The Red Lion Inn, East Maitland, is located in the heart of the Hunter Valley, ideally positioned a comfortable 30 minute drive to the fabulous vineyards of Pokolbin, the beautiful beaches of Port Stephens and the bright lights of Newcastle.

You can do as little or as much as you like during your stay. Relax and read a book in front of one of the open fireplaces, enjoy breakfast on the back verandah amid tranquil gardens. Venture out for a day, tasting wines and local produce of Pokolbin.

Walk the heritage trail’s of Maitland and East Maitland, soaking in the history of the architecture and its surrounds. Enjoy a little retail therapy in historic Morpeth, offering everything from antiques and collectables, to boutiques and fine foods.

This beautiful 2 storey Georgian residence began life C1830 as a licenced Inn, catering for both travellers and locals alike until 1870, after which it was converted to a private home. For the next 100 years, the doors remained closed to the general public with the building developing all the signs and wear of a well loved family home.

The 1980’s saw new life injected into the building. The Red Lion Inn name was reintroduced to the building, with guests able to visit both the restaurant and art gallery.

Now, seeing her third century, the Red Lion Inn is our family home. Furnished with period pieces, we invite you to stay and enjoy all the charm and atmosphere that a building of her vintage offers.
